Quotes From Wake Forest Coach Dave Odom:

Jan. 30, 2001

"Our team is going through the difficult times of January and February conference play. We're coming off a game against Cincinnati when we caught them at the worst time. We were in our fifth hostile venue in six games and I think our team responded well. I think we showed poise and composure in a difficult environment. We had a chance to win it in the last couple minutes, but I thought our team played very hard. It's a difficult stretch. We're not out of the stretch. Everyone in this league is playing hard games every night. We're not any different from anyone else (in the ACC).

"I felt really good in practice yesterday. Our kids came back from a day off and worked hard yesterday. Hopefully we'll be ready to play on Wednesday night because we'll be facing a very good NC State team. I would expect tomorrow night's game to be hard-fought, closely-played, decided in the last five minutes.

On the Oklahoma State plane crash:
"We are geographically blessed because we're not so far apart that we don't have a number of games where we have to fly. At Wake Forest we can bus to many venues. I think the whole league, with the exception of Florida State and Maryland, is that way. Any time there is a tragedy of this magnitude, there is not a person whose heart is not pouring out to Oklahoma State right now. The only thing good that can come out of it is that we re-assess what we do in our business. People in this league are very conscious of the academic welfare as well as the overall safety of our kids. It would be wrong, however, for any of us to point fingers or say that we do things better than others."
