Media Relations Staff Earns Publication Awards
June 11, 2001 Winston-Salem, N.C. - The Wake Forest athletics media relations office recently received national recognition for two of its publications. In a national publications contest administered by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), the 2000-01 Wake Forest men's basketball media guide and the men's golf guide were both honored as the fourth-best books in the nation in their respective categories. The WFU men's basketball guide, edited by Dean Buchan, assistant athletics director for media relations, received fourth place in the country in a contest among Division I men's basketball programs. The book also received first place honors in District 3, an area covering Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. The Demon Deacon men's golf guide also received fourth place in the nation as well as first-place District 3 accolades in a contest including Division I men's and women's golf programs. Associate media relations director Joanna Sparkman served as editor of the publication. |
