Wake Forest Media Relations Garners Awards
July 11, 2003 The Wake Forest University athletic media relations staff has accumulated a few awards throughout the 2002-03 year. Five of the Demon Deacon media guides have been honored. The men's basketball media guide was voted sixth best in the nation by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Written, designed and edited by Wake Forest Assistant AD/Media Relations Director Dean Buchan and printed by Mainline Printing of Topeka, Kan., the Demon Deacon hoops guide was picked second in the district by CoSIDA as well. Associate Media Relations Director Joanna Sparkman picked up another award for the men's golf media guide, placing third in the district by CoSIDA. It is the third year in a row that Sparkman's Wake Forest men's golf guide has garnered honors. The 2002-03 Deacon duffers brochure was printed by Classic Graphics of Charlotte, N.C. USA Volleyball selected the Wake Forest volleyball media guide as its Division IA Collegiate Women's Volleyball Media Guide of the Year and awarded the editor, Assistant Media Relations Director Bill Newton, one of five 2003 Viggo O. Nelson Member Organization Communications Awards. Mainline Printing of Topeka, Kan., handled the production of the publication. CoSIDA named the Wake Forest men's soccer media guide third best in District III and picked the baseball media guide sixth in the district. Both brochures were written, designed and edited by Assistant Media Relations Director Mike Vest and printed by Josten's Printing of Winston-Salem, N.C. |
