Deacons Remain in 11th Place in Sears Cup Race Dec. 14, 2001 Complete Release in PDF Format WINSTON-SALEM, NC - The second edition of the Sears Cup rankings were released this week and Wake Forest held onto its 11th place ranking. The Demon Deacons are fourth among Atlantic Coast Conference schools. Stanford has surpassed Colorado to claim the overall lead. In the current standings, which now include women's soccer and water polo in addition to field hockey, men's and women's cross country, Demon Deacons have 128 points. Wake Forest added 20 points by earning a berth in the NCAA women's soccer tournament earlier this fall. The top ten includes Stanford (311), Michigan (183), BYU (180), North Carolina (175), Colorado (162), UCLA (161), Virginia (159), NC State (149), Portland (140) and Notre Dame (131). Wake Forest currently ranks ahead of five ACC schools including Maryland (18th), Duke (26th), Clemson (40th), Florida State (53rd) and Georgia Tech (62nd).
