Chad Crunk enters his third year as an assistant director of media relations at Wake Forest in 2010-11. Crunk serves as the primary contact for the nationally ranked men's soccer team as well as the Deacon baseball program.
Over the last two seasons, Crunk has generated national media attention for the men's soccer program as the team advanced to the College Cup in both 2008 and 2009. In 2008, Crunk successfully promoted Marcus Tracy for the M.A.C. Hermann Trophy, the highest individual honor in college soccer, and Sam Cronin for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award. In addition to those national awards, a total of 11 Wake Forest men's soccer players have earned All-ACC honors over the last two years and six Deacs have received All-American accolades.
A native of Hopkinsville, Ky., Crunk has also earned recognition for his publications as his 2009 baseball media guide was named second in the district by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Crunk has served as the Media Relations Coordinator at several NCAA Tournament events during his tenure at Wake Forest. Crunk has been the Media Relations Coordinator for the first-fourth rounds of the 2008 and 2009 NCAA Men's Soccer Tournament and the first and second rounds of the 2008 and 2009 NCAA Women's Soccer Tournament. He has also volunteered at the 2009 and 2010 Atlantic Coast Conference Baseball Tournament.
Before coming to Wake, Crunk spent 10 months as an intern at Vanderbilt University where he was the primary media contact for the swimming and diving, track and field and women's tennis teams.
While at Vanderbilt, Crunk served as the Media Relations Coordinator for the first and second rounds of the 2008 NCAA Women's Tennis Tournament. He also worked the 2008 Southeastern Conference Women's Basketball Tournament and the 2008 SEC Baseball Tournament.
Crunk, 26, graduated summa cum laude from the University of Kentucky in December 2006 with a degree in journalism and a minor in political science.
