Santa's Helpers/Special Olympics

The Santa's Helper/Special Olympics Committee is responsible for publicizing and recruiting volunteers for the Santa's Helper weekend and also the week of Special Olympics. A student-athlete from this committee serves on the Santa's Helper Board of Directors, which is made up of volunteers from the local community.

Santa's Helper
Chip Rives, a former Wake Forest football player, founded the Santa's Helper program in 1986 to help provide holiday presents to children in Winston-Salem. Santa's Helper now reaches over 300 families and 1000 children in the Winston-Salem community. Numerous student-athletes, coaches, administrators, staff, Deacon Club members, friends of Wake Forest and people from the community volunteer their time to wrap and deliver thousands of presents each December.

Special Olympics
Each April, the Special Olympics Spring Games are held in Kentner Stadium on the campus of Wake Forest University. Student-athletes play an active role in the games by cheering on participants and awarding ribbons to the Special Olympics athletes after they compete in an event.
