Baer Hunter, who joined the Demon Deacons staff as a defensive graduate assistant in Jan. 2023, is in his first season on a football staff after he completed his playing career at Appalachian State.
During his playing career in Boone, N.C., Hunter was a standout offensive lineman for the Mountaineers. He was a Phil Steele All-America Honorable Mention honoree by Phil Steele in 2021 and a three-time All-Sun Belt selection, with first-team honors in 2020 and 2021.

Over the course of his six seasons at App State, the Mountaineers went 62-17 with four Sun Belt titles (2016-19), an additional Sun Belt East Division title (2021) and five bowl wins (2016-20).
