Herb Reinhard, MS, ATC, CES, has been named Head Football Athletic Trainer on April 10, 2023. Reinhard joins the Demon Deacons community following a two-year stint as the assistant athletics director for medical services at East Carolina. In addition to serving as the Pirates' top football athletic trainer, he was responsible for the daily oversight of ECU's entire sports medicine division, including its facilities and staff members.
His arrival in Greenville ended a four-season tenure at Ole Miss where he worked exclusively with the Rebels' football program as an assistant athletic trainer before earning a recent promotion to senior athletic trainer status in January, 2021.
Before accepting the position with the Southeastern Conference member in 2017, Reinhard spent two years as an assistant (football) athletic trainer at the United States Military Academy in West Point, New York.
Reinhard followed a two-year assignment as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Troy (Ala.) University by completing a 10-month internship with the then-Washington Redskins of the National Football League, which included detailed home and road game-day experience during the 2014 campaign.
A 2012 graduate of Valdosta State (Ga.) University, Reinhard earned his bachelor’s degree in athletic training before adding a master's degree in sport and fitness management from Troy in 2014. While attending VSU as an undergrad, he participated in a training camp internship with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2011) before assisting LSU with its spring workouts in a similar intern role (2012).
Reinhard is a certified athletic trainer by the Board of Certification and a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association. He holds an additional certification through the National Academy of Sports Medicine as a corrective exercise specialist (CES) and is also certified in dry needling for pain management and sports rehabilitation, and as a COVID-19 contact tracer.
The Valdosta native is married to the former Deanna Varnadoe and they are the parents of a daughter - Adalyn.
