Entering his sixth year at Wake Forest in 2026–27, Ken Knox serves as the Director of Sports Performance and Return to Performance Coordinator for Olympic Sports. In this dual role, Knox leads the athletic development for Men's Soccer and Men’s Tennis while overseeing the department-wide integration, management, and application of all sport science performance technologies.
Knox works closely with the sports medicine staff to streamline high-performance rehabilitation protocols, ensuring student-athletes safely transition from long-term injury back to elite competition. During his tenure with the Demon Deacons, he has also directed performance programs for Field Hockey, Volleyball, Women’s Tennis, and Track & Field (Throws).
Before joining Wake Forest in February 2021, Knox served as a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach at the University of Kentucky, supporting nine Olympic sport programs, including Volleyball, Gymnastics, Baseball, and Women's Basketball. He gained additional collegiate experience at the University of South Carolina and his alma mater, Emory & Henry College, where he was a dual-sport student-athlete in football and baseball.
Knox holds the Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) credential through the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCa) and received the prestigious Gatorade/CSCCa Young Achievement Award in 2024. He is also dual-certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) as both a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and a Certified Performance and Sport Scientist (CPSS), and is a certified and licensed athletic trainer, accredited by the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA). He earned his Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from Emory & Henry in 2018 and his master’s degree in Sport and Exercise Psychology from the University of Kentucky in May 2021.
