  • Title:
    Assistant Coach
Alma Mater:
UNC Asheville, '13

Mick Giordano is in his first season as an assistant coach with the Wake Forest men's soccer program in 2016 after spending one season as the top assistant at his alma mater, UNC Asheville.

"I couldn't be happier to be adding Mick to our staff," Muuss said of the addition. "Mick has a great passion for the game and respect for our University and for the program. He is an extremely hard-working individual and a talented young coach that I believe will complement our staff very effectively."

Giordano's tenure at UNC Asheville marked his first coaching position after spending time playing professionally in Germany in the fall of 2014. He joined the Bulldogs before the 2015 season after suffering injuries overseas that ended his playing career. Giordano replaces Eder Quintanilla on the Demon Deacon staff, who is leaving Wake Forest to become an assistant coach for the San Jose Earthquakes' Development Academy.

"I want to say thank you to Coach Muuss, Athletic Director Ron Wellman, Associate AD Bill Oakes and Wake Forest University for this wonderful opportunity," Giordano said. "I am humbled and blessed to be able to work for such a prestigious university. It is an exciting time for Wake Forest soccer and I am looking forward to joining the Demon Deacon staff with the initiative of helping the program continue to develop young men of character and reaching our goal of multiple ACC and national titles in the coming years. Lastly, I would like to thank UNC Asheville, Chancellor Mary Grant, AD Janet Cone and Matt Mennell for giving me the start to my coaching career."

Collegiately, Giordano played for UNC Asheville for two seasons in 2012 and 2013 after sitting out the 2011 season following a transfer from Charlotte. Giordano's playing career started at Greensboro College in 2009 before spending the 2010 season playing for Charlotte. He graduated from UNC Asheville in December 2013 after starting 17 games for the Bulldogs as a senior.

Prior to college soccer, Giordano played for four years at D.H. Conley High School, was an All-Conference selection for three-straight years and an All-Region honree as a junior and senior. He was a member of the 91 North Carolina ODP Team and finished his club career playing for 90 OCSA Coastal Crew and the U19 Winston-Salem Twins.
