Wake Forest head women's soccer coach Tony da Luz announced the addition of Assistant Coach Courtney Drummond to the staff on June 27, 2022.

Drummond helped bring in three nationally ranked recruiting classes, with the two most recent classes among the top 25. The Wake Forest assistant coach has also taken her talents to the national level, serving as assistant coach for the U-15, U-16, U-17 and U-23 U.S. National Teams.

In 2025, Drummond helped the Deacs to their 24th program NCAA Tournament appearance. Three members of the Wake Forest squad were tabbed with All-ACC Honors: forward Kylie Maxwell (Freshman of the Year, Freshman Team, 3rd Team), goalkeeper Valentina Amaral (3rd Team) and forward Allie Flanagan (Freshman Team). Maxwell was also named No. 1 on TopDrawerSoccer’s Midseason Rankings, while Flanagan was named No. 19. Amaral earned a spot on the National Rankings at No. 95, with defender Sierra Sythe at No. 40.

During the 2024 season, Drummond helped Wake Forest reach the College Cup for just the second time in program history. Under her leadership, five Demon Deacons earned All-ACC honors: Caiya Hanks (First Team), Emily Colton, Emily Murphy, Zara Chavoshi (Second Team), and Valentina Amaral (Third Team). Additionally, Hanks was named a 2024 Mac Hermann Semifinalist following her record-breaking regular and postseason performance. Also to note, Colton, Murphy, and Chavoshi were also named to the College Cup Best XI.

Furthermore, Hanks, Colton and Chavoshi earned a spot on the United Soccer Coaches All-American Teams. With all these accolades combined, Wake Forest sent eight Demon Deacons to the professional level, spanning across the NWSL, Northern Super League, USL Super League and overseas. In her time with Wake Forest,  Drummond helped to send 10 Deacs to the professional level.

In 2023, Drummond helped Wake Forest reach the ACC Tournament after one of the best regular seasons in program history, as the Demon Deacons finished the regular season with just two losses, setting a new program record with the previous mark being set at three in 2011. During the 2023 regular season campaign, the Deacs were not shut out in a single game for the first time in program history. Additionally, Wake Forest went unbeaten at home on the year.

In 2022, Drummond helped Wake Forest reach the NCAA Tournament for the 22nd time in program history. The Deacs accumulated an impressive .778 goals-against-average, while recording nine shutouts. Of note, the Demon Deacons ranked within the top 50 nationally in both categories. Additionally, defensively, the Deacs ranked first in the ACC in total goals allowed (16).

Drummond came to Wake Forest after eleven seasons at City SC Carlsbad, including 15 years of coaching experience.

As an assistant coach at CSUSM, Drummond helped mentor 28 all-conference selections and 6 All-Americans. The Cougars have won three more conference titles and have appeared in four more NAIA tournaments with her on the sideline.

Before Drummond left CSUSM in May 2016, she was a key part of the University and Athletics Department transition to NCAA Division II. Drummond left CSUSM to concentrate on ushering in and becoming the Girls U.S. Soccer Development Academy Director at LA Galaxy San Diego.

As a player, Drummond started 72 of 73 matches in which she appeared with CSUSM. She scored a record seven goals as a freshman in the program’s first season and helped CSUSM to back-to-back Association of Independent Institutions conference titles in 2008 and 2009. Drummond also appeared in two NAIA National Championships.
