In her first year at Wake Forest in 2023-24, Johnson currently serves as an Assistant Director for Sports Performance, Sports Science for Olympic Sports. She works directly with women’s soccer & track (Jumps, Heptathlon, Sprints). For women's soccer, Johnson oversees all strength and condition programs and works in collaboration with international strength and sports science coaches when it comes to athletes who play internationally or play professionally. For track & field, at the 2024 ACC Outdoor Championships, Johnson had a top-five finish for her heptathlon group as well as a third-place finish for her long jump group. Johnson also had a long jumper qualify for the 2024 Outdoor Track & Field Regional championships as well as the 2024 Outdoor Track & Field National championships.
Johnson oversees all sports science data for Olympic Sports and streamlines all data from Eliteform, VALD, Kinexon, and Catapult into one hub via Smartabase for quicker access for retrieving and reviewing data. She also works in collaboration with the Health & Exercise Science department to better assist our student athletes' performance and well-being.
Johnson joined Wake Forest in August 2023 after working as the assistant strength & conditioning coach at Boston University. While in Boston, Johnson worked primarily with Men’s and Women’s Lacrosse and Men’s Soccer. Johnson became the first Woman of Color to work with any Division I Men’s Lacrosse program as well as be a apart of historic season for Men’s Lacrosse winning the patriot league tournament in 2022 and reaching the NCAA tournament for the first time in program history. Prior to Boston University, Johnson worked at Colgate University from 2019-2021 as the assistant director of strength & conditioning as well as internship coordinator. While in Hamilton, Johnson worked primarily with Men’s and Women’s Ice Hockey, Women’s Soccer, Softball, Field Hockey, Men’s and Women’s Tennis and assited with Football. Johnson was the first Woman of Color to work with any Division I Men’s Ice Hockey program during her time at Colgate. Johnson was also a part of the historic season for Colgate women’s ice hockey as they won the ECAC championship in 2021 and reached the NCAA tournament. Prior to that, Johnson was at Rutgers University in 2017 where she trained Women’s Gymnastics, Women’s Golf & Women’s Lacrosse.A native of Smithtown, New York, Johnson earned her bachelor's degree in Kinesiology from Temple University in 2015, where she was a two-time All-American in gymnastics. She became the first freshman in school history to win the ECAC championship on the floor exercise and earn All-America status in the vault in 2011. Johnson is the only Temple woman gymnast to win two conference titles on the floor exercise.
Johnson earned her master's degree in Higher Education Administration in 2017 from Stony Brook University, where she was named Interim Assistant Director of Athletic Performance for Football and served as a Graduate Assistant in Sports Performance for Football and Men’s & Women’s Track & Field.
Johnson is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and holds a certification in USA Weight Lifting (USAW) as well as being CPR/AED certified.
