Don Steelman is in his 29th year at Wake Forest in 2026-27, serving as an athletic trainer.

Steelman works on a personal basis with the team in the daily prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries year round.

For nine years prior to coming to Wake Forest, Steelman worked at the University of North Carolina, where he was the assistant athletic trainer for the football program. He received his undergraduate and master's degrees from UNC and began his career in sports medicine as a student trainer.

Steelman previously served as the treasurer and Director of the ACC Sports Medicine Annual Symposium from 1999-2012.

Steelman and his wife, Pam, have two children, Ashlyn and Rhett.
