- Title:
- Director of Spirit Programs
- Email:
Wake Forest University has announced the promotion of Annie Forbes as the new Director of Spirit. A familiar face and respected leader within the Demon Deacon community, Forbes has served as the Gold Cheer Team Coach from 2022 to 2024, and most recently as the Head Dance Team Coach from 2024 to 2025.
In her new role, she will oversee all spirit operations, including cheer, dance, the Demon Deacon mascot program and student spirit engagement across the Reynolda campus. Wake Forest spirit programs enhance the Best Fan Experience in North Carolina by providing passionate support for Wake Forest student-athletes in competition at Allegacy Stadium, LJVM Coliseum, David F. Couch Ballpark and Varsity Arena.
"I am honored to take on this role and continue serving the university that has become such a special part of my life," Forbes said. "Wake Forest has given me the opportunity to work with some of the most talented and driven student-athletes, and I'm excited to build on our momentum—while always putting their safety, growth, and experience first."
Forbes helped lead the program to a second place in Gameday Live and the dance team made semifinals in the Jazz Division at UDA Nationally.
Additionally under her guidance in a previous role prior to Wake Forest, Forbes led her team to top-five placement in Pom, Hip Hop and Game Day Division at NDA High School Nationals.
Along with her professional contributions, Forbes is deeply rooted in the Wake Forest Athletics family. She is the wife of men's basketball video coordinator Chris Forbes and the daughter-in-law of Head Men's Basketball Coach Steve Forbes.
Her family's ongoing commitment to the university reflects a deep passion for the Demon Deacon community, both on and off the playing surface.
Forbes will continue to serve as the Head Dance Team Coach while her staff includes Gameday Assistant Coach Nadia King, Athletic Trainer Sasha Belliotti and Volunteer Assistant Sarah Binkley. Additional staff additions will be announced at a later date.
