Dr. Heath Thornton is a boardcertified sports medicine and family medicine physician with Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist and a member of the Wake Forest Sports Medicine team. He provides nonsurgical care for athletic injuries with an emphasis on injury prevention, concussion management, and safe return to play.

Dr. Thornton is an Associate Professor at Wake Forest University School of Medicine and completed his sports medicine fellowship at Wake Forest. Board certified in both Family Medicine and Sports Medicine, he works closely with athletic trainers, physical therapists, and coaching staff to deliver coordinated, athlete centered care.
Through Wake Forest Sports Medicine and Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist, Dr. Thornton helps ensure that Wake Forest athletes receive cutting edge care backed by academic medicine, advanced diagnostics, and a shared commitment to excellence, on and off the field.
