A standout guard for the Demon Deacons from 2007-09, Jeff Teague averaged 16.4 points, 3.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists through two years, while also shooting 46 percent from the floor and 42 percent from three-point distance.
The Indianapolis native burst on the national scene as a sophomore in 2008-09, earning consensus second team All-American honors in 2009, becoming the 13th player in program history to be named an NCAA All-American. Additionally, he was selected as a finalist for the Bob Cousy Award, Wooden Award and Oscar Robertson Trophy.
Teague scored 1,000 career points in two seasons and 61 games played, becoming the 45th player to join Wake Forest’s 1,000-point club. The electrifying guard led the team in several categories as a sophomore: scoring (18.8 PPG), assists (110), steals (58), three-point percentage (.441), free-throw percentage (.817) and minutes played (32.0/game). By the conclusion of the 2008-9 campaign, he was named first team NABC All-District and second team All-ACC for his sophomore campaign.
In his first collegiate season, Teague was tabbed to the ACC All-Freshman Team in 2007-08 while receiving votes for ACC Rookie of the Year. He paced the Deacs and all ACC freshmen in scoring with 16.4 points per game in conference play. Teague was also selected as ACC Rookie of the Week on four occasions, becoming the first Demon Deacon since Chris Paul (2003-04) to win the award multiple times.
Drafted 19th overall by the Atlanta Hawks in the 2009 NBA Draft, Teague went on to have a 12-year career in the league. In addition to his standout tenure with the Hawks, he also competed for the Indiana Pacers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Boston Celtics and Milwaukee Bucks. Teague was named an NBA All-Star in 2015 during his sixth season in Atlanta. He capped his professional career with an NBA championship in 2021 as a member of the Bucks.
