WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Wake Forest midfielder Emily Taggart scored a goal for the fourth consecutive game to lead the 7th-ranked Demon Deacons to a 2-0 victory over Brown on Sunday afternoon at Spry Stadium.
With the victory, Wake Forest rebounded from a tough 3-2 loss at Duke on Friday and improved to 10-3 on the season, while Brown dropped to 2-8-2.
The Demon Deacons jumped to a 1-0 lead when Taggert scored from 10 yards out off of a feed from Rahael Lewis in the thirteeth minute of the first half. Wake Forest extended the lead to 2-0 in the fifty-seventh minute when Colleen Bradley took a pass from Joline Charlton and beat Brown goal keeper Elise Roy up high. The goal was the first of Bradley's career.
Wake Forest dominated much of the action, outshooting Brown 25-2 for the match but Roy made 12 saves to keep the Bears close throughout. Wake Forest goalkeeper Beth Klein played all 90 minutes to record her first shutout of the season.
Wake Forest wil return to conference action when the Deacons visit Maryland on Friday. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
