Women's Volleyball Sweeps Past Georgia Southern

STATESBORO, Ga. - Wake Forest sophomore Trina Maso de Moya had 12 kills as the Demon Deacons swept Georgia Southern 3-0 in a non-conference match Sunday afternoon in Statesboro, GA.
The Deacs allowed the Eagles to score only 12 points the entire match, en route to a 15-4, 15-2, 15-3 victory. Wake held GSU to a mere .049 hitting percentage, while boasting a .381 mark of its own. Maso de Moya's 12 kills were a match-high, and senior outside hitter Amber Grahn posted seven kills and an impressive .583 attack percentage. Freshman setter Ashlee Phillips had 34 assists to lead Wake, while recording three kills on three attacks for a 1.000 hitting percentage.
Georgia Southern was led by Lauren McClain, who had nine kills. Setter Amanda Brooks registered a team-high 23 assists, while Susan Bindshedler recorded 10 digs.
The Deacons improve to 18-5 on the season and remain 5-3 in the ACC. Wake returns to conference action Tuesday, October 19, as the team faces Virginia in Charlottesville, VA.
