WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.--The Wake Forest field hockey team moved up one space to sixth in this week's National Field Hockey Coaches' Association (NFHCA) poll. The Deacons (13-2 overall and 1-2 in ACC play) moved into the sixth spot after a week when they upset the North Carolina Tar Heels for the second time this season, but suffered their second loss of the season on Sunday at Duke.
Once again all five ACC schools that compete in field hockey are ranked. Maryland remains at number two this week to lead the list of ACC teams. North Carolina fell one place to fifth, while Wake moved up to sixth. Duke moved up two spots to 10th with the upset of the Deacons. Virginia is the only ACC team not in the top 10. The Cavaliers fell from ninth to 11th in this week's poll.
Wake Forest will wrap up the ACC schedule with its last home game of the season on Saturday, Oct. 23, when the Deacons host Virginia. Gametime is 1 p.m. at Kentner Stadium.
