WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The sixth-ranked Demon Deacons took an early lead and never looked back today against the eleventh-ranked Virginia Cavaliers, winning 8-1.

Jemima Cameron scored first with 25 minutes remaining in the first half and the scoring continued at a steady rate. Cameron, Maria Whitehead, and Jennie Shelton all finished with two goals on the day with Jenny Everett and Heather Aughinbaugh scoring a goal a piece. Katie Slocum scored the lone goal for the Cavaliers.

It was a special day for the Deacons, as it was the final regular season home game for five starters, Sammantha Rush, Amy Marchell, Lizzy Hechenbleikner, Juli Lignelli and Meaghan Nitka. Kentner Stadium saw its biggest crowd of the year, as fans came to show their gratitude to the five seniors.

With the win the Deacons are 14-2 overall, and 2-2 in the ACC. The Deacons will be back in action on October 29 at Boston College.
