WILLIAMSBURG, VA - The eleventh-ranked Wake Forest field hockey team defeated the William & Mary Tribe here Sunday afternoon.
Wake Forest posted two goals in the first six minutes of the game. Maria Whitehead scored with 31:51 remaining in the first half and Jemima Cameron scored her first of two goals just over two minutes later.
William & Mary fought back to tie the score at two with two quick scores early in the second half. Jaime Bolen scored with 29:10 left in the game. Four minutes later Tara Duffy scored to tie the game on a penalty stroke.
Cameron scored the game winner with 17:46 left for the Demon Deacons.
Wake Forest improves to 10-1 overall with the win. The Deacons are also 1-1 in ACC play. The Deacons will host Dartmouth on Sunday, Oct. 10. Gametime is set for 1 p.m. at Kentner Stadium.
