WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Senior Amy Marchell scored three second half goals as the third-ranked Wake Forest field hockey team defeated the James Madison Dukes 3-0 at Kentner Stadium Saturday.

"I think it was a great game," Wake Forest head coach Jennifer Averill said. "JMU was killing us in the first half with their big ball. They had great opportunities to score. In the second half we were more successful in stopping it."

"Wake Forest is a good team," James Madison head coach Christy Morgan said. "They finished and we didn't. We had a lot of opportunities."

After a scoreless first half, Marchell put Wake up for good with her first goal at the 24:39 mark of the second half off a penalty corner. Marchell added her second goal at the 10:17 mark, and then scored the game's final goal at 3:22 remaining in the game.

Wake Forest improves to 18-3 on the season with the win, while James Madison drops to 15-7. Wake will play the winner of Saturday's second game between Duke and Michigan on Sunday at 2 p.m.
