Men's Hoops Wins Easy Fight With Campbell, 87-45

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) -- Darius Songaila and Niki Arinze combined for 22 points and five other Wake Forest players scored nine points each as the Demon Deacons beat Campbell 87-45 Saturday in the season opener for both teams.
Songaila had 12 points and Arinze added 10 for Wake Forest, which outscored the Camels of 34-16 over the final 13:15 of the first half to lead 41-26 at halftime.
The Demon Deacons then scored on their first nine possessions of the second half to stretch their advantage to 60-30 with 14:46 to play. The Camels never got closer than 28 the rest of the way, and the final margin represented Wake Forest's largest lead.
Wake Forest recorded 12 steals and forced 26 Campbell turnovers while holding a 46-30 rebounding edge. The Demon Deacons also made 22 of 27 free throws, compared to 11 of 14 for the Camels.
Robert O'Kelley, Broderick Hicks and Craig Dawson each added nine points for Wake Forest, as did two Demon Deacons making their debuts, freshman Josh Howard and junior transfer Tate Decker.
Sophomore guard Adam Fellers led the Camels with 10 points.
Campbell shot just 29.4 percent from the field (15 of 51). Wake Forest shot 44.9 percent (31 of 69).
