Seedings Announced for Regional Women's Tennis Championships

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- The pairings for the 1998 Southeast Regional Indoor Championships were announced today and Duke's Megan Miller was dubbed the top seed. Wake Forest's Mariel Verban was tabbed the number two seed in singles competition.
The Blue Devils had five players among the top 16 seeds in the 64 player field. Wake Forest, Kentucky and South Carolina each had two individuals among the top 16 seeds.
On the doubles side, Kentucky's Kelly Brown and Massoumeh Emami were named the number one seed, while South Carolina's duo of Celine Regnier and Leigh Eichelberger are the number two seed. Wake Forest's Janet Bergman and Maren Haus are the fourth seed and Mariel Verban and Caroline Ullring are the fifth seed.
Qualifying for the singles competition begins on Thursday, Nov. 5 at the Indoor Tennis Center at 12 p.m. There are 32 participants in the qualifying round with the top eight moving on to Friday's first round. The doubles competition consists of 32 teams.
The championship tournament begins on Friday, Nov. 6 and runs through Monday, Nov. 9. Friday's matches begin at 9 a.m. in the Indoor Tennis Center.
