South Carolina Men's Tennis Crushes Demon Deacons

COLUMBIA, S.C. -- The No. 19 South Carolina men's tennis team downed Wake Forest 6-1 Tuesday at the Sam Daniel Tennis Stadium. The Gamecocks improve to 14-10 on the season, while Wake Forest falls to 11-13.
In singles play the Gamecocks won five singles matches. The WFU victory came from No. 55 Myles Clouston who defeated No. 59 Vladimir Pavicevic, 7-6, 6-1. No. 23 Guillaume Lagat won 6-0, 6-2 over Johan Hansen. No. 38 Jerome Jourdon beat Raul Munoz, 6-0, 6-2 and No. 71 Olof Akesson defeated Brett Mauro, 6-3, 6-0. Tomaz Wawrzyniak won 6-3, 6-2 over Justin Kaufman.
In doubles action, the Gamecocks won two out of three matches to win the point. the team of Akesson/Legat defeated Michael Berger/Kaufman 8-6 and Gamboa/Jordan won 8-5 over Hansen/Guzman. Wake's No.1 doubles team of Clouston/Munoz downed Pavicevic/Wawrzyniak, 8-5.
Wake Forest will return to Atlantic Coast Conference play on Saturday, April 17. The Deacons will host the University of Virginia beginning at 1 p.m. in Leighton Stadium.
