Volleyball Drops Close Match to Georgia Tech

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - After winning game one, Wake Forest (17-6, 5-4 ACC) dropped games two and three and eventually lost the match to Georgia Tech (17-8, 6-3 ACC), 3-2 at Reynolds Gym on Tuesday evening. The loss snapped a three-game ACC winning streak for the Deacons.
The Deacons slowed themselves by committing 19 service errors and 38 attack errors for an attack percentage of only .147. Georgia Tech had nine service aces, led by Amanda Medrow's three.
Down 2-1, Wake Forest refused to call it quits, forcing a deciding fifth game, 15-8. The fifth game saw a determined Georgia Tech squad come back from a four-point deficit to win 15-12.
Sophomore Jessica Hood, in her third game back from an ankle injury, led the Deacons with a .600 hitting percentage. Junior Katie Horne had a team-high 19 kills, while freshman Trina Maso de Moya had a game-high 25 digs. Wake Forest returns to ACC competition tomorrow night, Oct. 21 against Clemson. Gametime is scheduled for 6 p.m. in Reynolds Gym.
