Volleyball Player Receives Academic Honors

WINSTON-SALEM, NC - Wake Forest's Katie Horne, a junior on the volleyball team, was named to the GTE District III Academic Volleyball Second Team as voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Horne, a biology major, has a 3.25 GPA and was second on the team in kills per game, 3.60.
Originally from Nashua, N.H., Horne played in all 33 matches this season and in 111 of 121 total games. She recorded 400 kills this season, fourth most by a Deacon in a single season. She also tied the WFU record for kills in a match with 26 against Duke on Sept. 29. Horne was one of 13 players from 12 schools in the five states compiling District III to be selected to either the first or second team. The only other ACC player chosen for the award was Georgia Tech's Carolyn Clevenger, a first team selection.
