Volleyball Rolls Past Appalachian State

WINSTON-SALEM, NC --- The Wake Forest volleyball team (9-2) defeated Appalachian State (6-6) at Reynolds Gymnasium this afternoon, 3-0. It was the Deacons' second victory of the season over the Mountaineers. WFU's ninth win of the season is already one better than the entire 1997 campaign. Three players registered double digits in kills for the Deacons, led by freshman Trina Maso de Moya (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) with 15. She also recorded a team-high 17 digs as well.
Senior Christy Kelley (Atlanta, Ga.) finished with 14 kills and freshman Margaret Davidson (Huntsville, Ala.) had 10. Davidson also recorded a career-high .563 hitting percentage.
The Deacons forced ASU into 19 errors as the Mountaineers finished with a hitting percentage of .078 compared to Wake Forest's .336. Wake Forest continues its non-conference schedule this Tuesday, Sept. 22 at Reynolds Gymnasium. The Deacons will take on Elon beginning at 7 p.m.
