Volleyball Team Defeats Clemson First Time Ever

CLEMSON, SC - The Wake Forest volleyball team (14-5, 3-3 ACC) defeated Clemson (11-6, 3-3 ACC) for the first time ever on Saturday evening in Clemson, SC, 3-1. After dropping the first game, the Deacons rebounded to win the next three games and the match.
Sophomore Corie Miles recorded a career-high 31 digs in the match to go along with 12 kills. She was one of five Deacons to finish the night with double digit digs, as well as one of four Deacons to register double-doubles.
It was defense that won it for the Deacons as Wake recorded 13 team blocks and 105 digs.
Freshman Trina Maso de Moya led the Deacons with 23 kills, while junior Katie Horne also posted 20 kills and 13 digs. Maso de Moya also finished the evening with 16 digs.
Sophomore Julie Cowley was the fourth Deacon to have a double-double night as she had 69 assists and 18 digs.
The Deacons return to action on Tuesday, Oct.13 in Richmond, Va. Wake Forest will take on Virginia Commonwealth beginning at 7 p.m.
