WINSTON-SALEM, NC - The 10th-ranked Wake Forest women's tennis team defeated Georgia Tech, 7-2, on Saturday afternoon in an Atlantic Coast Conference match at the Wake Forest Indoor Tennis Center. With the victory, Wake Forest improved to 11-5 and 3-1 in the ACC while Georgia Tech dropped to 11-4, 1-3 in conference play.
The Demon Deacons captured five of six singles flights, winning all matches except No. 1 singles where Georgia Tech's Christelle Ursulet defeated Nicola Kaiwai, 6-4, 2-6, 6-2. Mariel Verban, Lule Aydin, Dorothee Kurz, Annemarie Milton and Terri Hiete all won singles matches for the Deacs.
Wake Forest captured two of three doubles flights to end the match.
The Demon Deacons will return to action on Sunday afternoon when they visit 11th-ranked William & Mary.
