Women's Tennis Loses to Texas

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- The 11th-ranked Wake Forest women's tennis team dropped a 7-1 decision to 7th-ranked Texas Thursday afternoon at Leighton Stadium. With the loss, Wake Forest falls to 8-3 on the season.
Wake Forest's Mariel Verban (#43) continued her brilliant play with a three set win over Laura Berendt (#75) at No. 3. Nicola Kaiwai lost at No. 1 to Sandy Sureephong (#3) and Lule Aydin fell to Cristina Moros (#54) at No. 2.
The Demon Deacons play failed to improve in doubles action. Sureephong and Moros (#15) defeated Wake's star team of Kaiwai and Dorothee Kurz (#6) at No. 1. Annmarie Milton and Line Ullring fell at No. 3, 8-5.
Wake Forest will return to action on Saturday, March 21 when they host No. 1 Florida at noon.
