Women's Volleyball Falls to Georgia Tech

ATLANTA -- Freshman Maja Pachale collected 17 kills and six digs as the Georgia Tech (15-7, 4-2) volleyball team defeated Wake Forest (13-5, 2-3) by the scores of 15-13, 15-12, 15-9.
The Deamon Deacons were led by Trina Maso de Moya who had six kills and 12 digs.
In game one, the Deacons jumped out to a 10-4 lead, but behind junior Amanda Medrows jump serve, and Pachales booming eight kills on only nine attempts, the Jackets were able to get back in the match and tie the game 10-10. Tech would narrowly hang on for a 15-13 win as Medrow had an impressive kill to end the game.
Tech led throughout game two with key stuff blocks from Carla Gartner and Kyleen Bell, and important digs from Carolyn Clevenger and Aimee Boulet. Clevenger would lead the Jackets in digs with 13 while Boulet chipped in 11. But, behind defensive plays from Maso de Moya and stuff blocks from Corie Miles kept the Deacons in the match as Tech held on for a 15-12 victory.
Game three saw Wake Forest with an early lead, but the Jackets got back into the match behind the serving of Boulet for a 12-6 lead. The Jackets would never look back as they went on to win game three, 15-9.
The Yellow Jackets will return to OKeefe Gymnasium tomorrow night as they host the Duke Blue Devils at 7:30 p.m. The match will be televised on a tape delayed basis on Fox Sports South on October 16 at 7:00 p.m.
