
Women's Tennis Downs Virginia, 7-2

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- Wake Forest swept the top five single matches and downed Virginia, 7-2, in women's tennis action today at the Sheridan Snyder Center. The 19th-ranked Demon Deacons improve their record to 12-9 this season and 6-1 in the ACC, while the Cavaliers fall to 11-8 overall and 2-5 in the ACC.
The visiting Demon Deacons won all four three-set matches to help their cause. Mariel Verban, the nation's 10th-ranked player, downed Paige Boiko at #1 6-2, 3-6, 6-3. The Deacs also got three set wins at #2 from Janet Bergman, #4 from Jackie Houston and #5 from Annemarie Milton.
Kelly Weaver was Virginia's lone singles winner. She defeated Lea Miller 6-3, 6-4 at #6.
Wake Forest concludes its regular season tomorrow at Maryland.
