Women's Tennis Suffers First ACC Loss

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The 19th-ranked Wake Forest Demon Deacons lost their first Atlantic Coast Conference match of the season, 7-2 to No. 3 Duke, at Leighton Stadium on Tuesday afternoon. Wake Forest (9-9, 3-1 ACC) won two singles matches, No. 4 and 5 singles, while Duke (17-3, 6-0 ACC) won four singles and swept the doubles matches.
Sophomore Jackie Houston won her fourth match in her last five outings. She defeated Karen Goldstein at No. 4 singles in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3. It was her 17th overall win this season.
At the No. 5 position, Wake's Annemarie Milton won her 21st match of the year. She defeated Kathy Sell in three sets: 6-4, 4-6, 7-5.
The Deacons will return to action on Sunday, April 11 when they travel to Atlanta to battle Georgia Tech. The match is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
