Women's Tennis Sweep Doubles to Advance to Finals

NORCROSS, Ga. - Wake Forest's No. 2 doubles team of Annemarie Milton and Caroline Ullring downed the Florida State duo of Marina Raic and Jessica Balbuena to clinch the second-seeded Demon Deacons' 5-4 win over the third-seeded Seminoles in the semifinals of the 1999 Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Tennis Championships at the Racquet Club of the South.
Milton and Ullring won 9-8 as the demon Deacons swept the three doubles matches for the victory. Florida State led 4-2 following singles play after winning at the No. 3-6 positions.
Wake rallied in doubles getting an 8-3 win from Mariel Verban and Janet Bergman at No. 1 and an 8-5 win from Maren Haus and Jackie Houston at No. 3 before Milton and Ullring clinched at No. 3.
The win moves Wake (15-9) into Sunday's finals against top-seeded Duke. It will be the fifth consecutive time the two teams will play for the championship. Wake Forest is still searching for its first ACC title.
