Women's Volleyball Falls to Carolina

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The North Carolina volleyball team made it two wins in two days as they downed Wake Forest in three games: 15-8, 15-6, 15-3.
Wake Forest was the only team in the ACC that the Tar Heels had yet to beat. North Carolina finished the match with a .361 hitting percentage, while the Deacons had a .088 percentage.
Freshman Trina Maso de Moya led Wake Forest with nine kills and 11 digs. Setter Julie Cowley had 33 assists in the match. Wake Forest, the third leading blocking team in the ACC, was held to zero blocks in the match, while Carolina and 14 total team blocks. Junior Shannon Smith accounted for one-half of the Tar Heel blocks finishing with seven total blocks. Setter Erin berg had 48 assists and junior Casey Simpson had a solid performance with 14 kills and nine digs.
The win improves UNC's record to 22-5 and 10-2 in the ACC. Wake Forest falls to 18-9 and 6-7 in the conference.
The Deacons return to action on Tuesday, Nov. 3. Wake Forest will travel to Durham to take on Duke beginning at 7 p.m. in Cameron Indoor Stadium.
