Women's Tennis Has Impressive Showing At Tournament

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The Wake Forest women's tennis team had an impressive showing at the William & Mary Invitational here September 17-19.

Two Deacons won singles championships and one Wake Forest doubles team won their bracket in the tournament. Wake Forest's Jackie Houston defeated Brooke Siebel of Duke 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 to win the singles championship in the Green Division. In the Mary Division, Maren Haus defeated teammate Janet Bergman 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 to win that division's singles title. The doubles team of Mariel Verban and Bea Bielik won the Flight A Doubles championship by defeating a team from host school William & Mary by default.

The next competition for the Wake Forest women's tennis team will be Sept. 23-26 when it travels to Baltimore, Md. for the National Clay Courts tournament.
