No. 21 Baseball Starts Season Jan. 28

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.-The Wake Forest baseball team, ranked 21st in the preseason Baseball America poll, will open the 2000 season at the ACC-Disney Baseball Blast Jan. 28-30 in Orlando, Fla.

The Deacons will open the tournament against defending national champion Miami on Friday, Jan.28 at 3 p.m. The Hurricanes are ranked fifth in the preseason poll. Wake will also face 23rd-ranked Central Florida and 14th-ranked Rice over the weekend. Also participating in the tournament are 24th-ranked Clemson and North Carolina.

The Deacons return five starters and 16 letterwinners off a team that set a school record for victories with a 47-16 record. They also won their second consecutive ACC Tournament championship and advanced to the Super Regional round of the NCAA playoffs.
