CLEMSON, S.C. - The Wake Forest women's soccer team lost 3-0 to No. 5 Clemson Tuesday night at Historic Riggs Field. In a defensive battle between ACC powers, the Lady Tigers tied a school record for conference wins in a season with the victory over the Demon Deacons. Wake Forest falls to 7-7-1 overall and 2-3 in the ACC while Clemson improves to 15-1 overall and 5-1 in the ACC.
Freshman Lindsay Browne scored the game-winning goal for Clemson just before halftime, giving the Tigers a 1-0 lead. She was assisted Tanya Peterson and Tatum Clowney. Clemson added two more goals in the second half, one by Lea Shreve and another by Browne, her second of the game.
ACC Player of the Week, Emily Taggart, led the Demon Deacons with three shots, but nothing got past Clemson goalkeeper Katie Carson. Wake Forest held the fifth-ranked Tigers to seven shots on goal, but the Deacs only managed two themselves.
The Demon Deacons return to action Wednesday, Oct. 25, when they host Davidson College at 7:00 p.m. at Spry Stadium.
