Five Deacons Earn Regional Field Hockey All-America Honors

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Five members of the fourth-ranked Wake Forest field hockey team have been named to the 2000 AstroTurf/NFHCA South Region All-American team as announced today.
Senior forward Jenny Everett collected first-team honors for the third consecutive season. Everett has broken seven Wake Forest field hockey records and currently leads the team with 20 goals and 20 assists this season. She's also been named All-ACC for the second consecutive season. Junior forward Jemima Cameron also earned a spot on the first team All-Region for the first time in her career. She lists second on the team with 33 points this season on 13 goals and seven assists, and has been named All-ACC the past two seasons.
The second team is highlighted by junior forward Jennie Shelton, sophomore midfielder Heather Aughinbaugh and sophomore midfielder Maria Whitehead. Shelton was named to the second team as a sophomore and is fifth on the team in scoring with 12 goals and 3 assists. Aughinbaugh, who earned a spot on the All-ACC squad for the first time in her career, is fourth for the Deacs in point totals with 11 goals and eight assists on the season. Whitehead has scored two goals, but has dished out 18 assists - second on the team.
The Demon Deacon field hockey team is set to take on top-ranked Old Dominion Friday, November 17 at 4:00 pm at ODU's Foreman Field in the NCAA semifinals. The winner of that game will face the winner of the North Carolina-Maryland game on Sunday, November 19 in the championship game at 2:00 pm.
