WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's volleyball team will face Virginia in the first round of the 2000 ACC Volleyball Championships on Friday, November 17 at 7:00 pm. The tournament, also hosted by Wake Forest, will be played in Reynolds Gym, with the championship match broadcast live by Home Team Sports on Sunday, November 19 at 3:30 pm.
The Deacons, seeded No. 3 in the tournament, will take on a No. 6-seeded Virginia squad that Wake defeated twice during the regular season. Wake Forest has compiled a 19-8 overall and a 10-6 conference mark this season, while the Cavaliers boast a 15-14 overall mark and an 8-8 league record. The Deacs have defeated each team in the conference at least once, with the exception of top-seeded Georgia Tech and No. 4 Florida State.
In last year's ACC Tournament, the Deacs advanced to the second round for the first time in school history, defeating Georgia Tech in the first round before surrendering a 3-1 loss at the hands of eventual conference champion North Carolina.
