Deacons Finish Regular Season With Second Straight Win

- The Wake Forest volleyball team defeated UC Riverside 3-0 (15-7, 15-6, 15-8) in the team's final regular season match at the UC Irvine Thanksgiving Tournament in Irvine, CA Saturday evening. Senior middle blocker Jessica Hood led the Deacs, who boasted all but one player with a kill in the match, with 9 kills. Junior outside hitter Trina Maso de Moya chipped in 7 kills, while junior middle blocker Margaret Davidson and freshman outside hitter Jessica Hauff tallied 6 and 5 kills, respectively. Hood led the offensive attack for Wake, hitting at a .636 clip. Maso de Moya bolstered the Deacon defense, totaling a team-high 6 digs. Sophomore setter Ashlee Phillips, who used the holiday tournament as a homecoming, added a match-high 36 assists. Setter Laura Ratto led UC Riverside with 21 assists. The Highlanders' offensive attack was led by Allison Donald, who totaled a match-high 10 kills. Pam Hartman added 8 defensive digs for the Highlanders who drop to 5-23 overall. The Deacons conclude their regular season with a 21-9 overall mark. Wake will await a possible NCAA Tournament berth, as pairings will be announced for the 64-team field on Sunday, November 26 at 8:00 pm.
