MADISON, Wis. -- The ninth-ranked Wake Forest women's tennis team defeated sixth-ranked Pepperdine 7-0 in the quarterfinals of the USTA/ITA National Team Indoor Championships on Friday. The win gives Wake Forest only its second berth in the semifinals of the tournament. The only other appearance came in 1996.

The Deacons won the doubles point, winning two of the three doubles matches. In singles action, Adria Engel, playing at No. 1, defeated Ipek Senoglu 6-0, 7-6. Janet Bergman defeated Monika Horvath 6-1, 5-7, 1-0 at No. 2. Bea Bielik played at No. 3 singles, defeating Cintia Tortorella 7-5, 7-5.

Wake Forest improves to 3-0 with the win. The Deacons will face the third-ranked California Golden Bears in the semifinals on Friday. The Golden Bears defeated Duke in the quarterfinals. Saturday's match is set to start at 4 p.m Central Time.
