Women's Tennis Falls In Semifinals To Cal

MADISON, Wis. - The ninth-ranked Wake Forest women's tennis team lost to the third-ranked California Golden Bears 5-4 in match that went into overtime in the semifinals of the USTA/ITA National Team Indoor Championships on Saturday.
California grabbed a 2-0 advantage by sweeping the doubles point. Wake came back to win four of the six singles points to end the match in a 4-4 tie and force the overtime. In the singles matches, Adria Engel, Bea Bielik, Jackie Houston and Annemarie Milton won there matches for the Deacs.
The overtime consisted of three doubles matches, all won by California by scores of 1-0. California advances to face Stanford in Sunday's finals.
With the loss, Wake Forest drops to 3-1 on the season.
