
Demon Deacons Fall To Florida State, 66-61

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - Oliver Simmons scored seven points in the final six minutes of the game Saturday, including a pair of free throws with 23.3 seconds remaining, to lead Florida State to a 66-61 victory over Wake Forest.
Simmons' 3-pointer as time ran out on the shot clock gave the Seminoles a 58-56 lead with 5:22 left and he later sank four consecutive free throws, including the decisive two at the finish.
Florida State (9-11, 4-5 Atlantic Coast Conference) led 47-32 early in the second half, but Wake Forest rallied to take a 56-55 lead on a free throw by Ervin Murray with 6:52 remaining.
The Seminoles regained the lead on Simmons' shot-clock beater from the corner before Wake Forest took its final lead 61-60 lead on two free throws by Josh Howard with 4:24 left. But the Demon Deacons (12-10, 2-6) did not score again.
Simmons, a fifth-year senior transfer from Kentucky, put Florida State in the lead again, 62-61, with two free throws with 4:03 remaining.
Damous Anderson led the Seminoles with 19 points and Ron Hale, who scored 37 in Florida State's victory Jan. 4 at Wake Forest, added 15.
Robert O'Kelley led Wake Forest with 21 points on 7-for-22 shooting. Howard added a career-high 18 points.
