Wake Women's Tennis Defeats Texas 6-3

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.--The second-ranked Wake Forest women's tennis team defeated the 17th-ranked Texas Longhorns Wednesday afternoon at Leighton Tennis Stadium.

Wake won four of the six singles matches. Janet Bergman won at No. 2 singles 6-0, 6-3 over Vladka Uhlova. At the No. 3 position, Bea Bielik defeated Joanne Masongsong 6-3, 6-4. Jackie Houston won at No. 5 6-1, 6-2 over Kaysie Smashey and Annemarie Milton defeated Ziva Grasic at 6-2, 6-3 at No. 6. Wake won two of the three doubles matches to take the 6-3 win.

With the win, the Deacons improve to 8-1 on the season and will be back in action on Saturday, March 18 when they travel to Columbia, S.C. to take on the South Carolina Gamecocks. The match is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m.
