
Wake Forest Downs No. 4 Florida

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- The fifth ranked Wake Forest women's tennis won four of six singles matches to upset fourth-ranked Florida, 5-4, on Sunday afternoon at the Leighton Tennis Stadium.
With the victory, Wake Forest improves its overall record to 5-1 on the season while Florida drops to 7-1.
The Gators won two of three doubles matches to take a 2-1 lead, but the Demon Deacons rattled off four singles wins to claim the victory. Wake Forest freshman Adria Engel, ranked 4th nationally, defeated Whitney Laiho, 7-5, 6-4, at No. 1 singles, while the Deacons' Bea Bielik (#23) defeated #31 Jessica Lehnhoff at No. 2 singles, 7-5, 6-2.
Wake Forest took No. 3 singles when Janet Bergman (#36) downed Stephanie Hazlett, 6-7, 6-1, 7-6, as well as No. 4 singles with Jackie Houston (#58) defeating Baili Camino (#35) in three sets, 6-0, 2-6, 6-3.
Florida's Traci Green (#34) defeated Wake Forest's Maren Haus at No. 5 singles, 0-6, 6-3, 6-4, and the Gators' Julia Scaringe (#77) topped Annemarie Milton, 7-5, 6-2, at No. 6 singles.
Wake Forest will return to action when the Demon Deacons visit South Florida next week.
