NORCROSS, Ga. -- The top-seeded Wake Forest women's tennis team advanced to the championship match of the 2000 ACC Tournament with a 5-0 victory over fifth-seeded Florida State at the Racquet Club of the South on Saturday.
The Deacons swept the five singles matches to make the final 5-0. Freshman Adria Engel, playing at No. 1 singles, defeated Alida Gallovits 6-0, 6-3. Playing at the No. 2 position, Bea Bielik defeated Kia Asberg 6-3, 6-3. Sophomore Maren Haus clinched the victory with her win at No. 4 singles. Jackie Houston won at No. 5 singles and Annemarie Milton won at the No.6 spot.
With the win, Wake improves to 21-1 on the season. The Deacs will play second-seeded Duke for the ACC Championship on Sunday at 12 noon. This marks the sixth-consecutive season that Wake Forest and Duke have met for the ACC Championship.
