WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Michelle Vizzuso, the first player in ACC history to reach 50 goals and 60 assists, will join the Wake Forest field hockey program as an assistant coach, head coach Jennifer Averill announced today.

Vizzuso, who previously served as an assistant at the University of Virginia, played collegiately at UVa., where she holds the Cavaliers' all-time record in assists with 60. She is currently a member of the U.S. National Team and earned a silver medal as part of the Pan Am games in 1999.

A four-time All-American, Vizzuso was a first-team selection in both 1997 and 1998. She is Virginia's all-time leader in games played with 90 and ranks third all-time in scoring with 160 points, a mark which ranks eighth all-time in the ACC.

"We're ecstatic to have Michelle join our staff and program. She brings a lot of experience, knowledge and energy," said Averill. "She will undoubtedly be a great addition to Wake Forest."

Vizzuso is a 1999 graduate of Virginia.
