Winston-Salem, NC - Wake Forest junior forward Jennie Shelton garnered conference Player of the Week honors this week, following stellar performances in wins over Duke and top-ranked Maryland.

Shelton, who earned a similar distinction last season, scored three goals and tallied an assist in a 4-0 win at Duke and a 5-3 beating of No. 1 ranked Maryland in Winston-Salem last week. She scored on a breakaway goal in the win over Duke and assisted on another goal.

Against the Terrapins, last season's national champions, Shelton scored two crucial goals to preserve Wake Forest's perfect 9-0 (1-0 ACC) record. That win ended Maryland's 29-game winning streak, dating back to a loss to Old Dominion early in the 1999 season.

Shelton has recorded four goals and two assists this season for the Deacons. The squad faces third-ranked North Carolina in Chapel Hill at 11:30 am on Saturday. The Deacs host No. 9 William & Mary the following Sunday at Kentner Stadium. That game is set for a 1:00 pm start.
